I love the hunt for the hunt. Honestly it's my therapy in a sense that I forget whatever problems I have back home. I don't use tree stands or blinds. I hunt down Whitetail by still-hunting, and then once/if I see a deer, I begin to stalk-hunt. In terms of difficulty, this is not easy mode. It can take several years to become even a decent Whitetail hunter if this is how you choose to pursue Whitetail. |
Hunting Whitetail with this method will make you a superior hunter... hands down. You'll notice that you will become more patient, disciplined, and aware of your surroundings. You'll most likely lose weight or gain muscle. Maybe both depending on your body type. It's just plain rewarding, man. Time with other like-minded hunters is a club I'll always be proud and grateful to be a part of. I have friends that I've shared many seasons with. If you hunt long enough with someone you will go through some difficult problems together. Most recently a friend cut himself field dressing a buck. We were 4 miles from the nearest main road. We got out and went straight to the hospital. He needed around 20 stitches — some inside, some out. |
What I love is the bonds and stories we all share together. Killing a deer is the objective but not the point. That's my attitude and it's shared by those I choose to hunt with. Oh! The smells in the late fall woods are just as refreshing as a drink of cold water in mid summer. I did not want to forget mentioning that. All of the reasons above, and more, are why I'm passionate about hunting. I've enjoyed hunting since I was 5 and I'm now 42. As long as I'm able I will continue to do so, and pass it on to those that are interested. It would be a much shorter list of what I don't like about hunting. #1 on the “sucks” part is getting up at 4am, and then adjusting from a warm bed to 15°F air. That's really the only thing I don't care for. Safe hunting to you, and have fun. |
